To kick off the new year, we released a major improvement to the directory invitation flow. For many of you, the Church Center directory is essential to maintaining vital connections. However, we’ve heard that getting a critical mass of adoption can be a struggle. For most people, creating a Church Center login to connect with your church is still the best path, but we realize some folks would like to list their information and be contacted by others but would prefer not to use Church Center regularly.
To help streamline directory adoption, we’ve reimagined the approval flow. You can continue to invite congregants as you always have, but they will receive a new email that includes their contact information and the option to approve their listing in a single click.
After clicking the button, their information will immediately be shared with others in the directory. They can log into Church Center at any time to customize or remove what is shared and share information about their household (if one exists).
Some congregants you invite may also choose not to be listed and ignore your invitation as a result. To help understand when this happens, we also included a button indicating they prefer not to be listed in the directory. If a congregant clicks this button, “Declined invite” will display under Directory Status on their profile.
If you’d like to see everyone who has declined so that you can follow up with them or remove their permission to the directory, you can create a list with the condition People > Directory > Declined invitation.
We hope this update helps reduce some of the pain points around directory adoption while maintaining the security of your congregants’ private information.
