Send an email

Sending emails in People lets you keep track of who you've emailed and use email templates to speed up the process.

Send an email

  1. Select the People page from the top navigation.

  2. Search or scroll to find the person you'd like to email.

  3. Select their name.

  4. On their profile, select their email address in the Contact Information section.

  5. (Optional) In the popup, add people to the email by selecting Add in the To: field and typing their name.

  6. (Optional) Select the dropdown in the From: field and choose which email address to send this from if you have multiple on your profile or access to your organization's custom email senders.

  7. (Optional) Select the Template dropdown and choose a template to apply to the email. The template will override any text you've written in the email's body.

  8. Add a subject in the Subject text box.

  9. Compose your email in the large text box, using the formatting tools at the top as needed. The {{ }} placeholders dropdown allows you to insert dynamic text like the recipient's full name, the sender's first name, etc.

  10. Select Send email.

    Tip

If you're not ready to send the email, select Cancel, which will save your draft. The next time you choose this person's email address, select the Restore previous email button to reopen your draft.

Send an attachment

You can add attachments to emails sent through a list. You cannot add attachments to an email sent from a profile. You can use Mailchimp or cloud-hosted files to send attachments outside of lists.

Mailchimp

If your organization administrator has enabled the Mailchimp integration in People, you can send an email to a list from Mailchimp, which allows you to add an attachment or image.

Cloud-hosted files

Use a service like Dropbox or Google Drive to host a file, then add the link to that file in the email.

Undelivered emails

View a list of the emails sent to a person through Planning Center, including those that are undelivered, from the Communication tab on their profile.

If you see an email highlighted in red, open it to see if the email failed or was dropped. Hover over the status to view the reason for the failure.

To learn more about what specific error codes entail, check out Email Error Codes.

If someone mentions they didn't receive an email, or you see that an email failed to be delivered to them, check in Planning Center People to make sure their email address isn't blocked

If they still do not receive emails after unblocking their email address, contact support for additional troubleshooting by selecting the ? in the top right corner of the product.
