Does anything about this screenshot stand out to you? (Besides Abraham Lincoln having a cell phone?)
There’s a real good chance that if you’re the type to read the update notes for your church management system, you’re also the type that was immediately annoyed by the formats of those numbers in that screenshot. Be honest – it made you twitch a little bit, right? You've probably spent hours dutifully fixing the formats of all the numbers that keep coming in from all these different places.
It’s time for you to go get a cup of coffee and let our phone number input fields format those numbers for you.
And now that previous list looks like this:
Much better right?
Some details you may be interested in:
- Churches in the US (as set in your account settings) will see US numbers formatted as in the screenshot – (XXX) XXX-XXXX – and international numbers formatted in a standard format for that country including the country code, i.e. +614 123 456 789. (There's no way to change the format to another one if you prefer something else.)
- If your church has campuses in different countries with different country codes, the number’s formatting will take into account the church’s country setting and the country setting of the campus that a profile has been assigned to. We want to avoid cluttering up the interface with unnecessary country codes, but also always answer the question “what numbers do I have to tap into this phone to get a hold of Joe?”
- Every number stored in your database isn’t necessarily a valid phone number, and we’ve kept support for those. If you have “numbers” that actually say “Call his wife instead”, those will still work and your data won’t be lost.
- We’ve gone out of our way to keep these changes backwards compatible with any csv import / export processes you may have and with our API.
Automatic formatting is rolling out slowly over the next couple of weeks. You don’t need to do anything to enable it other than be patient just a little longer. :)
